????There?s something deeply satisfying about making your own tools.
Not just sewing projects?
but the things that actually help you create.
Over the years, I?ve learned that some of the most useful tools in a sewing space aren?t expensive at all. Sometimes they begin with scraps.repurposed materials, and a simple idea:
?What can I make from what I already have??
That mindset is exactly what inspired my newest learning module.
Today, I?m excited to officially share the new DIY Sewing & Pressing Module now available on my Project-Based Learning page at TerriStevenson.com
This module is designed to help beginners and makers create practical sewing tools that are genuinely useful in a small studio or sewing room. These are the kinds of projects that teach real skills while also solving real problems.
Inside the module, I walk through five different videos focused on sewing and pressing tools you can make yourself using affordable materials ? and in many cases, repurposed materials you may already have at home.
Because sewing isn?t only about buying more things. Sometimes creativity grows best within limitations.
The DIY Sewing & Pressing Module currently includes five project-based lessons:
? A repurposed tabletop ironing pad for small sewing spaces
? A sausage-style pressing pillow for shaping seams and curved areas
? An oval pressing pillow for pressing delicate or dimensional projects
? Pattern drafting techniques for creating your own pressing tools
? And practical construction methods that build confidence with measuring, cutting, pressing, and sewing fundamentals
Each project is designed to teach skills step-by-step while creating something you can actually use in your creative practice right away.
This style of learning is very personal to me. I first learned to sew as a child in 4-H, where every project taught me a new skill. That project-based approach kept me curious and creating as I grew into adulthood.
And honestly? I still learn the same way today.
By making things,.experimenting, solving problems, and building skills one project at a time. That experience became the inspiration behind my entire Sewing From Scratch and Project-Based Learning approach. The module is available now through my website, along with links to watch the lessons on YouTube and Rumble.Everything is designed to be approachable, beginner-friendly, and encouraging ? especially for people who may feel intimidated by sewing at first.
My goal is simple:
To help people discover that creativity doesn?t require perfection It simply requires willingness to begin.
And this is only the beginning.
Now that the foundation is in place, I?m already working on future project modules including:
and many more practical sewing projects designed to keep building skills through making.
If you?d like to explore the new DIY Sewing & Pressing Module, visit TerriStevenson.com,
and if these lessons help or inspire you, one of the best ways to support this project is simply to share the videos, share the website, and encourage another maker who wants to learn.
Because the best way to learn sewing? is by sewing.
And the best way to keep creativity alive? is to keep making.
??????Thanks for being here. And I?ll see you in the next project.
